ADAPTS [Anxiety and Depression Assessment for Parents, Teachers and Students] is an assessment screening tool which helps schools map, monitor, measure and help mindfully craft supportive programs to make an emotionally and mentally healthy community of learners, parents and teachers.
A 50-item self-report questionnaire that measures the presence and frequency of depression and anxiety symptoms in children/youth, parents and teachers. The items are in the form of statements to which the child/youth, parent or teacher answer by selecting one appropriate response: NEVER, RARELY, SOMETIMES, OFTEN and ALL THE TIME.
Each version is designed to assess the respondent’s experience of symptoms as outlined in the DSM-5. The information could be used for diagnostic purposes or as a component for treatment planning.
As an instrument for pre/post testing, ADAPTS can be used to measure changes in the frequency and severity of symptoms over the course of treatment. For younger respondents, ADAPTS-S may be read aloud and the answers recorded accurately on scoring sheets. Older children may self-administer.
